belgium third time around.
marshe' reporting about how fantastic europe is. I always get so excited when i step off the train in antwerp and i walk right into the fashion district. so many differenent languages, styles, religions. Individuality screams from within and is shown in everyday attire.
bowed skirts, graffiti inspired tees, oversized glasses, oversized hoods, suspenders, suspenders, suspenders, warn in boots, hats for personality, no jewelry, eurotrash techtonic haircuts. the boys are either dressed like they dont give a fuck or the drummer for some slightly famous elitist band. and the ladies.. perfectcly combining earthy vibrant ethnic prints with vintage style skirts and flat shoes. why wear heels when you are planning to dance all night.....
three designers that i have seen that have greatly influenced me are
numph.. a label started by seven danish women
bjorvin a label from denmark
girls from omsk belgium label with russian roots
europe in its splender
ghent where i am staying
graffiti is not a crime
fashion museum
belgium designer
and the music... oh the music.. and the beer oh the beer.. jupiler and cara for life....
you must come here.. everyone... spring is here... and everyone is in the center... grab 2 euros for frites and a jupiler and rest your ass next to the water for hours... this is paradise....

Marshe's favorite designers 2008
Here are my favorite for the year: rebecca turbow, samantha pleet, and octopi. All reigning from new york city, and all ladies of course. I love how crafty yet feminine rebecca turbow's pieces are. Her line is earth friendly and she uses oh-so-much blue and turquoise. Octopi has been a favorite of mine for quite some time. They have been doing the bubble shape jumper for years, it is their signature piece that everyone else realized they nedded to copy. Then we have Samantha Pleet. I love her high waisted miniskirt as well as her fitted vest and satin mini dresses. with bows. And her mens line? Round of applause, seriously. Scoundrels of Dickensian London to Venetian aristocrats, it's another Topsy turvy spin through lush inspirations for Samantha Pleet's. Each piece demands attention. I feel like I should be in Tokyo listening to the song "just like this" by Jasper while wearing a dress by rebecca turbow... Then I should put on a original by Samantha Pleet and walk down the streets of amsterdam while playing cocorosie on my ipod... then octopi.. octopi is perfect for very posh clubs in finland blasting dj mixes of david bowie and aphex twin...
